The University of St. La Salle and Belgian university Les Facultes Universitaires Notre- Dame De La Paix (FUNDP) extended its partnership for 5 more years by signing a Memorandum of Agreement today at the Lopue Conference Room.

President and Chancellor Br. Raymundo Suplido FSC represented USLS while FUCID Director Fr. Marcel Remon S.J. represented FUNDP during the signing of the agreement on general cooperation.

The scope of the agreement signed by both institutions includes joint educational and research activities; the exchange of academic materials and publications; exchange of faculty members for research, lectures, projects and immersion programs; and exchange of students for study, research, and immersion programs.

The signing of the MOA is to renew and strengthen the partnership of both institutions said USLS Center for External Relations Director Rhoderick Samonte.

It was in 1996 when the collaboration of USLS and FUND started through exchange and immersion programs for students and staff members, conferences, publications, mutual visits, joint community development projects and researches.

The MOA signing was highlighted by a turnover of the FUNDP Faculty of Medicine’s digital microscope software for the use of USLS College of Medicine, Nursing and the Department of Natural Sciences.

Remon said he is happy to sign the agreement with USLS knowing that both institutions will continue to work for the welfare of the society especially the poor.

To date, 8 Belgian students are on a one-month exposure-immersion program with various community partners of USLS through Balayan and the Institute for Negros Development.
