Museo exhibits Who’s John?

By On Friday, June 25, 2010

On the Feast of San Juan yesterday, Museo Negrense de La Salle opened the exhibit “Who’s John?” to the public with a twist.

As an annual display of the museum for Lasallian freshmen, the museum staff featured this year an exhibit that shows the difference between St. John the Baptist and the Founder, St. John Baptist de La Salle. This is to give students an overview of the lives of each saint since these two are often mistakenly identified.

Instead of the usual ribbon cutting, three plastic bags with small fishes inside were released to the mini-waterfall inside the museum symbolizing new beginnings and promoting the advocacy for clean waters in Negros.

The unusual practice was led by Br. Arian Lopez FSC, AVCAA Gloria Fuentes and UARO Director Cugie Loarca.

The launching of the exhibit was capped with the throwing of water balloons at the St. La Salle Parking Lot by guests as part of the Filipino tradition observed during the feast.

Coincidence as it is, June 24, 1680 was also the day when St. John Baptist de La Salle formed the Brothers of the Christian Schools.
