Madamo gid nga salamat sa USLS kay ang amon nga ginahandom nga balay nabaton man gid namon.

Pinky Galvez tearfully thanked Balayan and the Lasallian community after receiving the keys to her new home during the 4th Awarding of Housing Units at the GK Lopue Legacy Village on Feb. 28, Saturday.

“Tungod sang pagsakripisyo nila sang ila nga pinangabudlayan, naka-angkon kami sang balay,”  said Galvez, one of the five families who received new houses after rendering more than 1,500 hours service to the Gawad Kalinga community and the City of Bago.

University of St. La Salle donated a total of six houses—the University Student Government, college campus clubs, National Service Training Program, The La Salle Yearbook each pledged one housing unit while University President and Chancellor Br. Raymundo Suplido FSC provided for two units in celebration of his 50th year as a La Salle Brother.

“The improvement of the GK community—building of more houses, more livelihood programs—symbolizes progress,” Br. Suplido said in his speech.

There are currently 15 houses occupied in the GK Lopue Legacy Village.

Br. Suplido also encouraged the community to “dream further for the future of the youth in the village.”

Balayan Director Ann Gladys Ponteras said she “shares the joy of the families who received new homes.”

Balayan was also lauded by GK Provincial Head Bob Magalona along with Fr. Butch Villanueva for not only devoting time as the community’s “caretaker”,  but also creating livelihood and educational opportunities for the members of the Lopue Legacy Village

“There will always be hope if every one of us would help each other towards the same goal,” said Bago City Vice Mayor Nicholas Yulo.

The turnover ceremony was attended by representatives from the campus clubs, offices and the La Salle Brothers community, together with envoys from the Bago City LGU and Brgy. Dulao.
