This BLT year 2014-15, one of the 122 Busog, Lusog, Talino (BLT) sites who promised to live the BLT campaign “No child shall go to school hungry” is the Municipality of San Enrique. BLT is present in six out of nine public elementary schools in the said municipality.

Through their Small Town Lottery (STL) funds, the municipal government was able to fund two BLT schools, namely the Eusebio R. Quitco ES and Nayon ES, both in the year two of BLT implementation.

Meanwhile, the four schools, namely Don Esperidion Presbitero ES, Don Vicente Lopez ES, Guintorilan ES and Sibucao ES, are all in the year 1 of implementation. The four schools are funded by BLT-Sub LIP Rotary Club of Bacolod South in partnership with the Rotary Club of Tampa Bay Florida.

March 17 marked the celebration of the 120th feeding day of all BLT schools in San Enrique. A total of 500 kids, parents, teachers, LGU officials and guests were present in the culmination activity. It was a celebration of fun, presentation and inspirational messages from the school principals and BLT partners. The BLT kids and parents enjoyed the dance presentation by the Jollibee mascot.

During the activity, municipal mayor Mario “Mayok” Magno announced that in the next year “BLT will still be in San Enrique and we will try our best to expand it to more schools.” He also commended the effort and support of the parents and teachers who implemented the program.

The parents and volunteers were also happy of the impact of BLT in their children. Ma. Corazon Miranda, a BLT grandmother, expressed her happiness to the program. She said: “BLT is a very good program. It is a big help to the poor communities of San Enrique especially to those kids with economically challenged status in life. This program also have a big impact in their nutritional status and they can continue their studies now because of the BLT lunch that was served everyday”.

Busog, Lusog, Talino School Feeding Program is a project of Jollibee Group Foundation in partnership with University of St. La Salle – Institute for Negros Development. USLS-IND is the office in charge of managing the 122 BLT schools in Negros Occidental.
