Rafael Alunan III recalls fun times and memories in his Jubilarian’s Response

The University of St. La Salle marked its 63rd Foundation Day with the Hall of Fame: The Golden Jubilarians Class of 1965 Honoring Rites at St. La Salle Coliseum, July 3.

Leading the Jubilarians was Rafael Alunan III of High School Class who delivered the Jubilarian’s response and Hon. Mayor Monico Puentevella led the gentlemen in singing the Alma Mater Song and Men of La Salle.

The Jubilarians were awarded with a medallion and pin by University President-Chancellor Br. Manuel Pajarillo FSC, Integrated School Principal Doris Dumaran, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Marissa Quezon and University Alumni Relations Office Director Ma. Del Pilar Limas.

Cocktails held at Santuario De La Salle in the evening of July 2 welcomed 38 Grade School and 29 High School Batchmates who arrived, with some coming all the way from the USA and Canada as well as from Manila, Iloilo, Bulacan and Bukidnon. Unveiled was a gallery of their grade school, high school and college photos.

Among the out-of-towners were Ruperto Suarez and Jimmy Sarmiento from California, Ernesto Torrejon Jr. from San Francisco, USA and Rafael Espinos from Canada.

Four widows and family members of their batchmates also came to receive the medals and pins on behalf of the departed classmates.

A lunch reception for the Jubilarians and guests followed at Santuario de la Salle where they were entertained by a presentation of their family pictures. They also received a personalized USLS Keychain and CD Yearbook ’65 as a token of appreciation.

The Class 1965 is the ninth batch of the 50th Jubilarians.

The university’s Handumanan week was tagged #63USLS: Burn with the Brightest Flame.
