Third year Medical Student won Research Award in Pattaya, Thailand

A third year medical student of the University of St. La Salle-College of Medicine in Bacolod City, garnered the Best in Paper and Oral Presentation hosted by the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA) Asia Pacific Regional Conference in Pattaya, Thailand from November 1 to November 4, 2017.

            Juluis Dominique Lagtapon Anjao presented the group’s papers in quantitative research entitled, “Quality of Life of Orphans in 2 Selected Orphanage in Bacolod City” and a qualitative research entitled “Living without Light and Walls”, an in-depth investigation of the quantitative research approach.

            Most significant is that Anjao was the only under graduate research presenter. All the international researchers are either Family Medicine specialists or Family Medicine Residents from various international hospitals and universities.The research group members are: Norainne Krisandra Alambra, Daryll Antipuesto, Erica Aragon, Dominique Francis Gumahin, Charles Adrian Legislador and Gabriel Victor Lopez.

Alongside with this award is another honor bestowed by the WONCA Asia Pacific officials to the group’s adviser-mentor Dr. Balintawak P. Sison-Gareza, who together with Anjao, have been invited to be panelist in Seoul, South Korea on October 2018 and in Kyoto, Japan in 2019. Dr. Sison-Gareza is a Social Health Researcher with an Ed.D in Psychology and Guidance and a Ph.D in Social Science on top of her Medical Degree.
