Special Collections

The Special Collection section serves to augment the information and research needs of students and researchers.  All resources in these areas are for room use only.

  • Negrosiana

The Negrosiana collection is about the local history of the Province of Negros.  It consists of books, publications, brochures and other materials about Negros Oriental and Occidental mostly written by local authors and writers.

  • Asian Studies

This section houses materials about the culture, literature, politics and government of Asian countries such as Japan, China and other neighboring Asian countries.

  • Don Carlos Locsin Collection

The Don Carlos Locsin Collection includes 3,000 volumes of books on various subject areas like Philippine history, literature, politics, government and more.  It also includes rare materials that dates back to the early 1900’s.  It has precious and informative collection on sugar industry, its history and development.  Other collections and valuable publications are noteworthy due to its historical significance and content.

  • Senator Jose Locsin Collection

This is a private collection of Sen. Jose Locsin.  It includes materials on Rizal, Philippine politics and government.

  • American Corner

The American corner provides a window to life and culture about the United States of America.  It is a partnership with the U.S. embassy through Thomas Jefferson Information Center (TJIC).  The TJIC maintains and coordinates a network throughout the country.  The corner provides an array of information about the United States of America.  The collection includes books, maps, posters, periodicals, materials produce and published by the U.S. Department of State, CDs/DVDs and online databases.

  • Knowledge Resource Collection (KRC)

The Knowledge Resource Collection was launched last June 28, 2017 at the USLS LRC in partnership with Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). It houses BSP publications such as books, reports, guides, manuals, primer brochures and also provide research assistance to the public.

This is in line with the BSP vision on KRN to be a catalyst for economic development by empowering the public to make informed and better economic and financial decision through easy access to information and services
