The University of St. La Salle BS Elementary and Secondary Education Programs were granted Center for Development (COD) status by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) through Memorandum Order No. 17, Series of 2016.

Centers for Excellence (COEs) and CODs serve as potent catalysts for world class scholarships, best practices, innovative curriculum, research and extension and professional development. CHED designates higher education institutions (HEIs) this recognition to uphold the virtue of its commission.

College of Education Dean, Dr. Cherry Biaco took pride and expressed her gratitude with the university having been the only teacher education institution (TEI) in Negros Occidental recognized this year on its first attempt.

“It is simply reaping what has been planted many years ago. This is an affirmation that our Lasallian teachers are doing excellently. We are happy with the support of the administration, which always brings up the best in every college. This as well is a responsibility and a challenge for us to lift a little higher, and hopefully we will be able to continue our mission of teaching minds, touching hearts, and transforming lives”, Dr. Biaco said.

The designation is valid from April 1, 2016 to December 31, 2018.
