160 students earn post-graduate degrees at USLS

The University of St. La Salle celebrated the accomplishments of its 160 graduates from the College of Medicine and Graduate School programs at a ceremony held at Santuario De La Salle on July 14th.

The graduation rites conferred 45 Doctorate degrees, 25 Masters degrees, and 90 Doctor of Medicine degrees to the graduates, with University administrators led by Chancellor Minnie Chua administering the hooding and capping.

The Head of Specialty Centers in CLMMRH and USLS alumnus Dr. Jorge Masa delivered an address to the graduates focusing on resilience and unity, highlighting the strong support within the Lasallian community.

"When the world pulls at you and reality hits you hard, and you decide to make a difference in your community, remember today. Understand that you are not alone. When that day comes, we will stand with you, and we are many," Dr. Masa concluded.

Meanwhile, on behalf of the College of Medicine graduates, class Valedictorian Angela Marie A. Garong shared her personal challenges and encouraged future Lasallian doctors to uphold Lasallian values and deliver compassionate healthcare.

In her speech, Garong urged future Lasallian doctors to carry forward Lasallian values and pursue knowledge.

“As we later embark on diverse paths, let us carry forward the Lasallian values that have been instilled in us during our time here. May we continue to challenge ourselves, seek knowledge relentlessly, and make a positive impact on the lives of our patients,” Garong said.

In a historic feat for the Graduate School, it awarded for the first time the Highest Academic Honor to a foreign student in the person of Cao Nana.

Cao Nana graduated with a Doctorate Degree in Philosophy in Nursing. In her speech, Cao Nana reflected on the countless nights of learning late hours.

“This journey has not only been an academic challenge, but also a test of our perseverance and patience. It is precisely these challenges that have shaped the resilience and wisdom we possess today,” Cao Nana said.

The Commission on Higher Education Secretary, J. De Vera III, also addressed the graduates through a video message, reaffirming the commitment of CHED to improving education quality, fostering job creation, and aligning skills with global workforce needs.

The University also awarded special awards, including the Alma Mater awards, Best Thesis, and Dissertation.
