USLS Center for LifeSkills Students Chosen as One of LAB for ALL Beneficiaries

To cover the final costs of training, 18 students from the USLS Center for LifeSkills were awarded 50% Training Support Funds and Living Allowance by TESDA Secretary Suharto Mangudadatu as part of the LAB for ALL program during its launching on June 27, 2024 at the University of Negros Occidental - Recoletos.

The LAB for ALL caravan aims to provide scholarship programs, with TESDA Region VI as one of the major partners of the event. They distributed training allowances and starter tool kits to selected Technical Vocational Institution (TVI) scholars. The University was privileged to be chosen as one of the beneficiaries.

The launching of the LAB for ALL caravan was attended by various institutions in Negros Occidental where First Lady Liza Marcos led the turnover of a LAB for ALL van and equipment to the city government.

One of the goals of the caravan is to make basic health services, such as physical and medical examinations and laboratory tests, accessible to communities all over the Philippines, in accordance with Republic Act No. 11223 or the Universal Health Care Act.

During the same event, TESDA invited various TVIs to join "Barangay TESDA," which showcased different technical and vocational programs. USLS was one of the exhibitors, and as part of its program offerings—Cookery NC II and Food and Beverage Services NC II—students prepared canapés for their product display. The booth was graced by the presence of First Lady Marcos, Bacolod City Mayor Albee Benitez, and Secretary Mangudadatu.

The USLS Center for LifeSkills provides opportunities to Out of School Youth, unemployed, and underemployed to avail scholarship for continuous education and lifelong learning through vocational and technical skills training to enable them to find gainful employment here and abroad.
