USLS achieves quarter-final finish at SEA Regional Environmental Moot Court Competition

The University of St. La Salle - College of Law (USLS-COL) clinched a quarter-final finish at the South East Asian Regional Rounds (SEARR) of the 27th Stetson International Environmental Law Moot Court Competition held on January 30-February 3, via Zoom.

The USLS-COL participants belonged in the top 8 performing teams, out of the 23 competing groups from different institutions. They further bagged the runner-up award for Best Memorial. 

The team is composed of seniors Angelee Alayon, Jhazel Javier, Joevel Bartolome, Laisha Marie Dignos, Nelie France Sanchez, and Ricca Joy Resula, and junior Ma. Mercedes Garzon. 

The Lasallian team is coached by USLS-COL and Stetson alumnae, Johnnil Fatima Acero and Kristianly Hazel Esclares-Prado, under the leadership of Dean Rosanne Juliana Gonzaga. 

When asked about the experience, Acero said “It was taxing for all of us. But we rose to the challenge.I am beyond proud of our achievement."

USLS-COL previously participated in the Stetson competition in 2013, 2016, 2017, and 2019, garnering a best memorial award, multiple best oralist citations, and opportunities to compete internationally at the Stetson University in Gulfport, Florida.

The Stetson Competition highlights important global environmental challenges, and is described as the most prestigious international environmental law moot court competition in the world.*
