USLS honors Batch 1974 Golden Jubilarians

Paying tribute to the alumni who remained green-blooded even after 50 years, the University of St. La Salle organized a Honoring Rites for Class 1974 Golden Jubilarians as part of the 72nd Handumanan Week celebration earlier this morning, July 5, at the St. La Salle Coliseum.

A total of 140 Lasallian alumni were recognized and awarded with pins and medals in the presence of the Lasallian community—40 were from grade school, 50 from high school, and 50 from college.

Among this batch of Golden Jubilarians are notable alumni in the field of business, entertainment, and philanthropy, among many others, such as Joel Torre, Kumar Nandwani, Medel Montano, and Jocelyn Aragon.

Br. Normandy C. Dujunco FSC, DTheol, Vice Chancellor for Mission and Development, welcomed the Jubilarians, allowing them to reflect on their adventures and misadventures, as well as stories of success and failures after they graduated in the institution.

“That is what we celebrate—your story. We are grateful that you have become a part of the story of the University of St. La Salle and the story of the Lasallian mission throughout the world,” Br. Dujunco shared.

On behalf of the Jubilarians, Jose P. Ledesma III shared his reflections and urged his fellow alumni to continue inspiring and empowering each other and make the legacy of excellence persist in generations to come.

"We will navigate the challenges again and emerge stronger, wiser, and more resilient than before," Ledesma encouraged.

Not only that, the University also honored those who have gone ahead by distributing their pins and medals to their family members or relatives.

In addition, a Thanksgiving Mass transpired before the honoring rites which was officiated by the University Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Rocelo B. Villarosa, who reiterated the essence of the foundation day celebration—be reminded of who we are and where we came from.

This honoring rite serves as part of the culminating event in celebration of 72nd Handumanan Week, anchored on the theme “LASALLIFY: Amplifying the Lasallian DNA.”
