Young Deaf Summit at USLS highlights deaf’s role in nation-building

The University, through the College of Education, hosted the Young Deaf Summit (YDS) in partnership with De La Salle - College of St. Benilde School for Deaf Education and Applied Studies last March 4 at USLS.

Around 200 participants comprised of teachers, parents, and deaf senior high school students attended the event which tackled lifestyles and careers of deaf professionals, career planning, deaf awareness orientation, Filipino Sign Language, and the deaf's role in nation-building.

This year’s theme for #YDS2023 is “Trailblaze”.

Prior to the event, the De La Salle College of St. Benilde School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies had their courtesy visit with the University President and Chancellor, Br. Joaquin Severino Martinez FSC.

YDS is an annual gathering of Deaf youth leader-advocates from several non-government organizations and public schools all over the Philippines.
