ACTING COURSES

Children’s Theater

Designed to shape the next generation of theater enthusiasts, Children’s Theater is an introduction to the world of performing!  Students will be presented with theater concepts fit for their developmental stage, as they explore their imagination, and build self-confidence.

Facilitator - Ms. Mary Jane Quilisadio

In the 1980’s, she joined PETA summer workshop. She then joined the Actors workshop where she did extra parts in Going Bananas and Maricel live. But then, teaching called her back to Bacolod where she started her teaching career in La Salle. That same year, the Negros Summer Workshop began and she was one of the first students in the workshops, eventually, becoming a facilitator then one of the instructors for children and teen theatre workshop.

 

Teenage Acting

Focuses on the fundamental elements in acting, the main bulk of the course is centered towards acting exercises. The course covers lectures on the basic command language for film and theatre, understanding the S.A.R.E. approach, bodily and spatial awareness, technical aspect of acting and class production output.

Facilitator - Mr. Nonilon Torpez

He is also a product of the Negros Summer Workshop. Currently, he is the moderator of the USLS-IS theater club Rated PG where he teaches Math, and was a featured actor in various films and stage plays.

 

Advanced Acting

Advance acting program is exclusive only to those students who are committed to further enhance their skills as a performer. This is an intensive training course focusing on acting techniques for live performances and with the camera.

Facilitator – Mr. Jack Triño and Mr. John Arceo

Jack is a member of the Kinengkoy Comedy Express Improvisations Group and has done theater plays and film projects under the direction of Gabriel Fernandez and Peque Gallaga. Currently teaches Perfoming Arts subjects for Liceo of University of St La Salle and the La Consolacion Senior high program.

John is a founding member of the Bacolod Improv Group (BIG) an improv group based in Sugarlandia and one of the original members of Kinengkoy Comedy Express, which is known as the first improv group in the Philippines that was established in the year 2000 by the country’s first improv guru Gabby Fernandez.

 

Basic Acting

Facilitator - Kurt Soberano

A quintessential workshop fanatic, to say this is a bit of an understatement. He had 15 years of workshop experience under his belt. Kurt has the most workshops attended in the Negros Summer Workshop (NSW) and the Bacollywood Workshops on record. Currently one of the sought-after events host in Bacolod City. He is also a member of the Bacolod Improv Group (BIG). He is passionate about his craft and is hungry to learn more.

 

PRODUCTION AND TECHNICAL COURSES

Teenage Film Production

Teenage Film Production is an introduction to the basics of making a film for teenagers. Using updated and 21st century approaches in writing, shooting, and editing, students experience a hands-on application, and lecture under the guidance of professionals to provide the fundamental disciplines in becoming a filmmaker in the future.

Facilitator - Mr. Julius De la Peña

Julius is a graduate of AB Interdisciplinary Studies in 2013. He had his education for the love of film making in the now defunct Negros Summer Workshop (NSW). His short films granted him multiple entries to the annual Cinema Rehiyon and other film festivals.

 

Film Production

This course provides an overview of all aspects of video and film production from pre-production to post-production. Students undergo the process of conceptualization, production management techniques and post-production under professional guidance.

Facilitator – Mr. Barney Molina

The TV Entertainment Head of ABS-CBN Regional – Western Visayas, Recipient of multiple golden dove awards for television by the Kapisanan ng Broadcasters ng Pilipinas or KBP.

                       

Digital Photography

The course will include hands on demonstrations with the camera as well as basic digital image editing techniques. Discussions include the work of great photographers alongside your own photographs in order to better understand the fundamentals of composition to create compelling imagery.

Facilitator – Mr. Aeson Baldevia

An alumnus of the University and has been winning in various photography competitions and has attended photography workshops and conventions both locally and internationally.

 

Stage Craft

This class covers the basic elements of production design and its development.  Students will learn how to create the mood and atmosphere of a film through the expressive use of space, objects, forms, and color, bringing all the visual elements together to create a story.

Facilitator – Mr. Junjun Montelibano

Junjun Montelibano is a Lasallian graduate who got fascinated with sketching early in his life. He then proceeded to find his thoughts in the freedom of expressing himself on canvas. His involvement in stage, video and film productions shaped a multidimensional sensibility that makes him very flexible in the use of materials. One of his accomplishments was winning the best production designer for Indie Movies in the PMPC Star Awards for Peque Gallaga’s film, Sonata 2014.

 

Make-up for Stage and Film

Thoroughly hands-on, the course is a solid introduction to the world of make-up artistry.  Discussions and execution of the skills and techniques necessary to create the basic “no make-up” look, as well as, advanced hair and face styling intended for film and television will take you to a whole new level. Lessons in special effect and prosthetics makeup for film will also be given emphasis.

Facilitator– Mr. Carlos Durana

Certified and professionally trained Makeup Artist with over 13 years of experience glamming up personalities in a wide range of media including TV, print ads, fashion runway and movie sets. Friendly, focused and fabulous; desirous of sharing world class talents with an established movie production company, Seeking the position of a makeup artist in a challenging environment where my uncommon, creativity, skills, knowledge of beauty and passion, and unmatched attention to details will be employed in giving clients’ an awesome look that suits the occasion.                                                                                  

           

Screenwriting

Focused on building a concrete foundation on the basics of screenwriting, specifically on character creation and development, scene construction, dialogue writing, editing, and script pitching, this course allows the student to find his voice and create his own style of writing by coming up with his own short film script. 

Facilitator – Ms. Jade Snow Dionzon

Jade Snow is a writer and a teacher. She is a faculty member of the University of St. La Salle -Bacolod Communication Department as well a columnist for the Visayan Daily Star. She holds a master in the English Language and is currently earning her Doctor of Communication degree from the UP OU system

 

Cinematography

Become the master of visual storytelling through learning shot composition, lighting and other techniques.  This course deals with cinematography’s principles and techniques in manipulating the camera in order to tell a story for the screen.

Facilitator – Ms. Anne Monzon

Studied in University of the Philippines Diliman/ Bachelor of Arts in Film and Audio-Visual Communications. Also took various workshops and training locally and abroad. A regular Director of Photography of the Philippine cinema.

           

Conceptual Art Development

Facilitator - Professor Inagaki Tatsuo

Professor Tatsuo Inagaki is an artist, a professor of the Faculty of International Cultural Communication at Hosei University, and a visiting researcher at Art Studies Department at University of the Philippines in Diliman. Inagaki has started international activities with the participation of VIVA EXCON (Philippines) in 1992. Inagaki's art projects are fundamentally collaborative, and it is promoted based on region-specific form. He also researches art education and develops educational programs.

 

Basic Sound Design

Facilitator – Mr. Roem Ortiz

A graduate of Bachelor of Fine Arts Major in Digital Media arts from La Consolacion College-Bacolod. He won Best in Sound Design in four different local film competitions. Specifically; Cinekahirup 2017, Sine Inasal 2018, Sine Negrense 2018 and Cine Kasimanwa 2019. Currently he is working as a sound designer and graphic artist under Jungle Room Creative which caters auditory and graphic design needs for companies and filmmakers.
